BEAUMONT ENTERPRISE BUSINESS REVIEW
Although beauty is more than skin deep, measures to improve how you look and feel will enhance personal confidence and radiance. Where aging was once considered an irreversible process, modern medicine offers expanding options to slow down and even mollify the aging process, gradually erasing many of the inevitable marks of time, wear and tear, and the elements. Non-invasive cosmetic procedures are rapidly replacing cosmetic surgery as safer and more sensible with equally compelling, if not more satisfying, results. But in the beauty evolution not all options are equal, according to Dr. George Zuzukin, Medical Director of the Medesthetic Center in Beaumont. Having trained around the world with the foremost pioneers in the field of Cosmetic Enhancement, Dr. Zuzukin offers Beaumont a unique combination of unparalleled credentials and expertise, including membership in the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, the American Society of PhotoDynamic Therapy, the Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, and the International Network of Lipodissolve.
As the field has rapidly evolved over time, increasing in sophistication and success, Dr. Zuzukin has sought and acquired the knowledge and training that keeps his practice on the cutting edge of this quiet medical revolution. The Medesthetic Center for Cosmetic Enhancement began as Dr. George and Connie Zuzukin’s dream to offer non-surgical procedures locally in an appealing private setting. The Center opened in May 2001 as the first medical spa of its kind in Beaumont specializing in BOTOX treatments, injectable fillers, Photofacials and photorejuvenation, micro laser peels, medical microdermabrasion, lipolysis, hair reduction, and exclusive skin care products by Jan Marini Skin Research. Expecting a sterile, medical environment, clients who first step through the door are surprised by the Center’s bold boutique-like atmosphere and cosmopolitan ambience. Although medical spas have since opened elsewhere in the area, none has duplicated or surpassed the Medesthetic Center in training, credentials, experience or approach.
“I perform all the procedures myself, from consultation through treatment course.” says Dr. Zuzukin, establishing a continuity of care that is truly reassuring to clients. As sole proprietor, assisted by his wife Connie, who oversees the business end, Dr. Zuzukin can also offer competitive prices. He is most proud, however, of earning the distinction as the most frequent (and therefore most experienced) injector of BOTOX in this area, the only physician in Jefferson County to have earned the BOTOX Gold Award, qualifying him as a Golden Member of the Allergan Network. Considering that less than twenty-percent of cosmetic doctors in this country have earned this award, Dr. Zuzukin attributes his personal expertise and success to his highly qualified mentors from around the world. “My training in every procedure has always been from the best of the best,” training which has reached from his native Moscow to Paris, Canada, New York, Florida, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Colorado.
Originally from Moscow (Russia), Dr. Zuzukin came to the U.S. in 1980 and opened his Diagnostic and Internal Medicine Clinic in 1985 before expanding his practice to include the Medesthetic Center in 2001. Personally trained by Dr. Alastair and Dr. Jean Carruthers of Canada, pioneers in the first clinical trials and studies of BOTOX for cosmetic purposes, Dr. Zuzukin perfected the techniques he now offers to hundreds of satisfied clients. These intra-muscular injections block chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract, thereby relaxing the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles on the forehead, crows feet around the eyes, fine lines and laugh lines around the mouth. Further training included intensive work with Dr. Franz Hasengschwandtner of Germany and Dr. Diane Duncan of Denver, originators of lipolysis, lipo (fat)- dissolving injections for trouble spots on the stomach, hips, and thighs, a relatively recent addition to the Center’s cosmetic treatment options.
Other ground-breaking procedures offered at the Center include microlaser peels, an intra-epidermal peel that precisely ablates the outermost layer of skin producing a significant, immediate change in skin texture and tightness for younger-looking, healthier-feeling skin. This is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing. The Medesthetic Center also provides a variety of injectables, short-acting, medium-acting, and longacting synthetic gel fillers, (including Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Sculptra) to “volumnize” sunken eyes, concave temples, flat cheekbones, and deeper wrinkles and folds, causing years to disappear after weeks of treatment. As an alternative to the more risky and invasive surgical cosmetics, Medesthetics, a synthesis of medicine and aesthetics for cosmetic treatment of the skin, is by Dr. Zuzukin’s own testimony “truly the field of the future” offering “The modern approach to ageless beauty.”
The Center, located in Suite 304 of the Calder Professional Building at 2929 Calder, is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
